Why we built VoucherMatch
If you've ever tried to find an apartment with a Section 8 voucher in NYC, you know the frustration. You apply to 30 apartments. You get rejected 30 times. Landlords see "Section 8" and suddenly the apartment is "already rented."
If you're a landlord who actually wants Section 8 tenants, you face a different problem. Your units sit vacant for months because good tenants can't find you. They're out there searching, but there's no way for you to connect.

VoucherMatch was born from firsthand experience. As a small landlord in NYC with a positive Section 8 tenant experience, I wanted another. But there was no easy way to find qualified voucher holders actively searching.
Meanwhile, I kept hearing the same story from friends and neighbors with vouchers: endless rejections, discriminatory listings, months of searching with nothing to show for it. Their vouchers were expiring while perfectly good apartments sat empty.
The disconnect was obvious. Landlords who welcome vouchers can't advertise it. Tenants with vouchers can't find landlords who'll actually rent to them. Everyone loses.
So we built VoucherMatch. A simple marketplace where landlords who want Section 8 tenants can find them, and tenants can search knowing every landlord on the platform actually welcomes their voucher.
